This is a script written in Python and written in a way to make it easy to run in a Bash shell script. To make use of it you need to have python, pygtk and pygtk2 installed on your linux box. For help see the README.txt file included with the archive. A basic summary of the user interface is shown in the screenshot above. Screenshot of the Main User Interface A few features include: A menu to control antenna setup and calculations. A way to select the properties for the antenna. Setting of: The maximum frequency at which the antenna will work. The antenna length. Gain factor for the antenna. Cutoff frequency for the gain. A menu to select the type of analysis you wish to do. A menu to select the options for the calculation (frequency of operation, SWR method, source power, etc). The results for the calculation will be stored in a file in a configuration of your choice. All of the entries in the user interface can be changed. Antenna Circuit Design Calculations The left side of the main user interface has a menu to select the antenna and circuit you wish to calculate. The right side of the main user interface has a menu to select the analysis you wish to perform. The calculation menu can be found on the left side of the screen. From there you can select each type of analysis you wish to perform. One example of a configuration is shown below. The menu at the top of the screen is used to select the properties for the antenna. From the panel on the right you can select the maximum frequency at which the antenna will work. From the panel on the right you can select the antenna length. From the panel on the right you can select the gain. From the panel on the right you can select the cutoff frequency for the gain. At the top of the main user interface is a screen that will show the analysis configuration. Here you can choose the frequency of operation, the type of analysis to perform and the options to perform that analysis. You can choose the frequency of operation from a list of predefined frequencies. For the SWR analysis the predefined frequencies are from 0.1MHz to 60MHz in 5MHz increments. For the SWR analysis you can choose a maximum frequency to calculate for and a minimum frequency to calculate for. The minimum frequency is always 0.1MHz. In the SWR analysis the choices are: SWR for the whole band and for a particular frequency. For example if you selected 20MHz and the maximum frequency was 60MHz you would get a calculation for 20MHz to 60MHz. If you selected the SWR for the whole band and maximum frequency you would get a calculation for 0

# # 1. Connect to the antenna and give it a name Antenna: NAME: PATH: # 2. Connect the antenna's terminals to the simulator's # input ports. If the port connected to the antenna is not # specified the first port of the simulator will be used. # To display which port the antenna is connected to run the program and type `bw` # and press . # e.g. connect antenna to port 1 and run the program. # OR # connect antenna to port 4 and run the program. # OR # connect antenna to ports 1,2,3 and run the program. # NOTE: # if you connect the antenna to a port that is not specified # in the input, the program will start and the antenna will # be connected to the FIRST free port. # (unless there is an error). Antenna Systems Calculator is a very simple software with the ability to do the following: It supports two types of antennas: Dipole antennas and Leed antennas. Dipole Antenna: Dipole antennas are a type of dipole antenna that has three wire arms radiating out from the center. Two of the wire arms connect to one point. A third wire arm has a connection to ground. Dipole antenna forms a narrow beam and also wide beam pattern (much like a Yagi antenna), Dipole antennas are very simple to understand. Leed Antenna: Leed antennas are a type of "Dipole" antenna that uses multiple antennas for the same purpose. Like dipole antennas, leed antennas have three wire arms radiating out from the center. These arms are connected to one another, and the center wire arm is connected to ground. Leed antennas are more complex than dipole antennas, but they are easier to understand and therefore, more usable. Currently, leed antennas do not have a wide beam pattern, so we must use many of them to get the wide beam. With the creation of "Leed" antennas, we can now do most things that we have been able to do with "Dipole" antennas. Note: The following leed antennas are not the same as the leed antennas created by you can create with other antenna systems calculators, but they work on the same principle. Note: You can use Antenna Systems Calculator to create different type of antennas, but you can only make dipole antennas. With that being said, let's get into it. Antenna Systems Calculator Installation: This tool is pretty easy to install. You should have the LAMW SDK installed already, so you can skip that. You should have Java and Ant installed on your computer. Then you just need to add the location of the Antenna Systems Calculator.jar to your PATH variable, then you are done. If you get an error about an already defined variable in your PATH then you can go ahead and edit the PATH variable and add in your ANTENNA_SYSTEMS_CALCULATOR_JAR. Also, if you are using Java 6 or above, you will need to edit the PATH variable. For more
